On June 14th, Hunger Mountain Coop joined the Vermont Earth Institute and Petes Greens to sponsor a Localvore Potluck at the Unitarian Church in Montpelier. The event launched the awareness of a challenge which will begin in August, to eat locally! After watching the film Sweet Soil, which highlights the valuable relationship between farmers and their local Massachusetts co-op, we had the pleasure of listening to Randy George of Red Hen Bakery and Pete Johnson of Petes Greens speak about the importance of local farmers and producers to the future of our Vermont economy. And WOW - thanks to everyone who brought such GREAT potluck offerings. Yum! Eating locally is gonna be great!
In late August, we will be hosting an event with Jessica Prentice, pioneer Locavore and author of Full Moon Feast. Watch for details...
What is a Localvore?
